Camborne Town Council are following all guidance and advice offered by the Government & Public Health England and we expect there will further changes implemented to our normal operating procedures in the coming weeks to support the introduction of further social distancing measures for older and vulnerable people.
We will communicate any changes to our procedures if and when they occur.

THE PASSMORE EDWARDS BUILDING IS CLOSED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
The Passmore Edwards Building is now closed for public access until further notice in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Staff will still be accessing this building in the meantime and will be working under strict guidelines. This arrangement will be reviewed on a daily basis.

Please deposit all library returns (Books, DVDs etc.) into the post box at the front of the building OR hold onto them and return them once the Library has re-opened. Renewals are now unlimited and overdue fines have been temporarily stopped to assist in these challenging times.
The Town Council is operating with reduced staffing and a reduced meeting schedule. We aim to provide an appropriate service despite these changes.

Enys Road Allotments & Pengegon Allotments are open to PLOT HOLDERS ONLY. The committees for each site are following the guidance from the National Allotment Society HERE
Enys Road have shut the onsite Tea Rooms, Shop and have limited access to plot holders only. Livestock housed onsite will be fed and watered on a special schedule managed by the committee.
Pengegon Allotments have limited access to plot holders only and will not be taking on any new plot holders at this point.
Safety and hygiene is essential. No gatherings permitted. One person may access each plot at a time and consider it their daily exercise. Plot holders must not exchange produce.

COUNCIL TAX RELIEF
REGISTRATION OF BIRTHS, DEATHS AND MARRIAGES (Cornwall Council)
From Tuesday 31st March 2020, emergency legislation to register deaths by phone is being implemented. None of Cornwall’s Register Offices will be open except for existing appointments to register a death. No more face to face death registration appointments will be made.
People will be able to make a request to register a death through an on-line form on the Cornwall Council website here or by phoning 0300 1234 181 (Monday to Friday 8:30am to 6:00pm).
We will then contact the customer only once we have received all the necessary paperwork, which may be subject to understandable delays with the medical profession.
All other Register Office services are suspended until further notice.
Cornwall Council are contacting marriage/civil partnership couples who have booked with us to discuss their options, but we have over 3,000 bookings so there is a backlog. We are not taking any new bookings for marriages or Civil Partnerships until we have been able to reschedule our displaced bookings. Residents are advised to email us on firstname.lastname@example.org but please make them aware there will be a delay in our response.
Birth registrations are suspended for the time being, although our child benefit department is accepting applications prior to registration, which would not normally be allowed.
The Council is aware that there is increasing concern about members of the community who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.
If you are aware of any of your residents who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, please contact Cornwall Housing Limited on 0300 1234 161 and ask for the Prevention & Engagement team. You can also find useful information and advice on their website at www.cornwallhousing.org.uk
If you are concerned about someone who is sleeping rough, you should report this through Streetlink by visiting www.streetlink.org.uk or by phoning them on 0300 500 0914. Streetlink will then inform our Outreach Team who can make contact with the person and offer them help and support to find accommodation.
The Government has confirmed that hotels, B&Bs, hostels and holiday parks providing accommodation to support people who are homeless through arrangements with the local authority or other public bodies should remain open to facilitate these arrangements.

Please be aware that not everyone out there is trustworthy and some people will take advantage of this unusual situation our society is facing.
Here are just some of the scams we are aware of, but please note that criminals come in all shapes and sizes and can contact you at the door, by phone, post or online:
- Be aware of people offering miracle cures or vaccines for coronavirus – there is no specific treatment for coronavirus (COVID-19). Treatment aims to relieve the symptoms until you recover.
- Home cleaning services
- People impersonating healthcare workers, claiming to be offering ‘home-testing’ for coronavirus – this is a scam and these kits are not currently available to buy.
- Emails saying that you can get a refund on taxes, utilities or similar are usually bogus and they are just after your personal and bank details.
- There are lots of fake products available to buy online that say they can protect you or cure coronavirus. These will not help and are designed to take your money.
- There are new mobile phone applications that claim to give you updates on the virus but instead, they lock your phone and demand a ransom.
- Your bank or the police will never ask for your bank details over the phone.
- People offering to do your shopping or collecting medication and asking for money upfront and then disappearing.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE CHARITABLE ORGANISATIONS:
Camborne Town Council agreed to donate £5,000 Community Grant to CPR FoodBank at the Extra-Ordinary Full Council Meeting on Friday 20th March. This is to help the organisation continue to provide frontline support to the residents of Camborne Parish during this challenging time.
Councillors also agreed to create a specialist fund in response to these extraordinary times to ensure the Town Council can be as responsive and effective as possible during the crisis.

Recycling and waste collections in the Cornwall continue as normal and members of the public should continue to use the kerbside service where possible.
Please do not present articles that the kerbside collection service does not cater for e.g. electrical items, batteries, bulky materials etc.
Try to postpone any DIY, clearances or garden projects until the lockdown period concludes, unless you can store your rubbish.

During the Covid19 lockdown, Citizens Advice is continuing to operate a full service as demand for accurate, independent advice skyrockets. The website received an all-time record of more than 2.2 million views in one week and advisers in Cornwall have dealt with hundreds of calls relating to Covid19 issues.
Although the service's offices and outreach operations are closed during the Covid19 restrictions, they are still continuing to offer our services to the public in Cornwall through the following ways:
- Text ADVICE to 78866 or for debt issues, text DEBT to 78866 and they will call you back within 48 hours (excluding bank holidays and weekends).
- Call 03444-111444 Mondays to Fridays between 10am and 4pm.

MACMILLAN CANCER ADVICE SERVICE
The office in The Cove at the Royal Cornwall Hospital is closed during the coronavirus outbreak but advisers are still working. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 01872-672090. Callers will be asked to leave a message, and can expect a call back within 24 hours (excluding weekends).
A new support network has been set up in Cornwall to help those affected by loss and bereavement to find support during and after the coronavirus pandemic.
Cornwall Bereavement Network is a collaborative initiative set-up by several partners from across Cornwall, including Cornwall Hospice Care, Penhaligon’s Friends, RCHT and Cornwall Council. The new network, which is comprised of counselling services, hospice care, funeral services, NHS and council services, support groups, faith groups, and professional support services, is to designed to easily help people find information and guidance following on from the death of a loved one.
The network brings together around 85 organisations from across Cornwall and will provide a vital tool for people at a time when social distancing rules may mean that they are unable to visit their loved ones in hospital or draw on their usual sources of support following on from a bereavement.
In addition to this, two telephone helplines have been set up to help residents to deal with bereavement during the coronavirus outbreak. The Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust is hosting a helpline to offer practical support immediately following a bereavement, and Cornwall Hospice Care is hosting a bereavement helpline to signpost to emotional support services.
